Fall Engagement Shoot In Majors Hill Park
Alex & Alanna had their engagement photoshoot with me on a beautiful autumn day at Major’s Hill Park in Ottawa. The fall foliage was so bright it was almost neon, and these tones were complimented on film perfectly. I shot a mix of film on Kodak Ultramax and digital. I’ve been loving the interest my couples have been showing in film add-ons; whether that’s a roll shot during their engagement shoot or something they want to have as an extra in their wedding gallery.
I recently touched up my film portfolio because I think it helps to have a visual reference when my couples are deciding if film is something they want to add on to their package. I’m super excited to be launching a new fully film wedding package in 2026, which I’m calling The Nostalgia Package. Stay tuned for an update on that!
Whenever I do a shoot by Major’s Hill Park, I always feel confident knowing there are so many good photo spots in a small radius. The Park is flanked by Ottawa’s Parliament, the Chateau Laurier and the National Gallery of Canada. The lookout over the water is always a nice backdrop, especially during golden hour. I love having a mix of the greens from the park and the classic architecture of the Chateau to make a gallery feel fuller.
These two were great to shoot with, we did a leaf toss and a piggy back in the park and the photos turn out so playful and fun. I also loved how their outfits complimented eachother! When I give couples outfit recommendations for couples photoshoots, I like to mention you want to be dressed like you’re a pair going to the same event. You don’t need to match top to bottom, but you can see in these photos the floral details on Alanna’s dress matched the orange in Alex’s sweater, which is really all you need to have your clothing feel cohesive.
Check out the photos below. The first 7 photos are film, and the ones below are digital. I always wonder if it’s easy to tell the difference between film and digital photos. Let me know if you can tell the difference!
